
Tim Matlick has an M.Ed. in education from Northeastern State University (Oklahoma) and a B.S.E. in K-12 Physical Education from John Brown University (Arkansas). He taught and coached in a boarding high school for nine years before going into business for a decade while continuing to coach both high school soccer and club. He returned to education, serving Colorado charter schools for over 20 years as a school board member and principal. Before coming to Jefferson Academy he served as the 2nd Charter School Liason (Community Superintendent) for Jeffco Public Schools overseeing the district's 21 charter schools.
Tim also helped start the Jeffco Charter School Consortium (JCSC), was a founder and first Co-Chair of the Colorado Association of Charter School Authorizers (CACSA), and served as the treasurer and president of the Board for the Colorado League of Charter Schools (CLCS).
Tim's wife, Ruth, was a high school English teacher before becoming an adjunct instructor for colleges in Arkansas and Colorado. Tim's daughters are both JA graduates. One has stayed in the area to focus on music while the other moved to Arizona to pursue her enthusiasm for the outdoors.
